Rowan's First Days

We welcomed Rowan Faith into the world on October 27th, 2008 at 3:28 AM. Early labor began a week earlier, but ceased after approximately 2-3 days--she wasn't quite ready to join us on the outside! Once real labor set in again, it didn't take long--she was here in just 2 hours! The veteran nurse who delivered her (Rowan was not waiting for anyone, including the doctor) said that she had never seen a baby arrive so quickly, especially a first baby! Because Rowan joined us 4 weeks early, she weighed a delicate 5 pounds 1/2 ounce at birth. Since then she has been working very hard to make up for lost time--breastfeeding up to 16+ times a day! For the first several weeks of life, she gained an impressive one ounce per day!
